Hey everyone! Thanks for tuning in to hear about the 2025 SWE India trip! We’ll be traveling through India, teaching an engineering summer camp, and seeing some beautiful cities. On the trip, we have Jade (our director), Sasha Hill, Sasha Lee, Anagha, Kaamaakshi, MacKenzie, Kathleen, Sam, Alice, and Sanjana (me!).

Our trip started bright and early on Friday morning as we arrived at DTW for our 7AM flight. We flew to Newark and got on a connecting flight to Mumbai. The flight was 14 hours long, but we occupied ourselves by sleeping, reading, and watching movies (Jade got through most of the Twilight series!). Once we disembarked at the Mumbai airport, we got through security quickly but then waited a long time in the 90 degree heat for an Uber to arrive. After a nice drive through Mumbai, we arrived at our hostel, an adorable guest house in the Colaba district. Seriously, it’s the cutest. The rooftop was a great spot for a quick photo shoot during golden hour!

After settling in and getting ready, we headed to dinner at the Leopold Cafe, a very historic restaurant in Colaba. The food was delicious, and Kaamaakshi and I especially enjoyed the mango juice they served. After dinner, we spent time at the Colaba Causeway, shopping at different street vendors. Some of us picked up souvenirs and clothes. According to Kaamaakshi and Alice, this was the best part of the day, because they really enjoyed walking through the markets and watching people bargain.

Tomorrow, we’ll be up super early as we finish our journey to Walchandnagar, so stay tuned!

See you soon,

Sanjana (and all of SWIndia!)
