Yoga, Balloon Cars, and Entrepreneurship

Today marks the second day of the camp. We had so much fun meeting all the students and introducing them to the camp yesterday and we’re all very excited to go back!

We woke up bright and early to start the day with yoga with one of the teachers. We learned breathing and meditation techniques, as well as some of the history of yoga and its practice. It was a great way to start the day and we all felt so refreshed afterwards.

The first activity we did with the students was balloon cars. The activity taught the principles of Newton’s Third Law, friction, and air resistance. The students were given a budget and had to buy materials to make their cars. They designed and built very creative cars with limited supplies and had a great time racing their cars.

After balloon cars, we introduced an entrepreneurship program to the students. The students were given broad topics such as transportation, food and water, entertainment, etc. to build a business around and asked to come up with a problem within one of the topics. The students were asked to put together a problem statement describing the what, who, when, where, and why of their problem. Then, they started to brainstorm ideas for a solution. They were all very excited about the program and attacked real-world problems such as global warming, disaster management, and education in underprivileged areas.
